Restaurante Poço Azul is not simply a place to dine, it is a home where each person who crosses its threshhold is welcomed as family. Chef Andre Pacheco opened the restaurante in Achadinha in 2018, naming it after the famous lagoon nearby. He warmly shares that the original team still works at Poço Azul, further adding to the family feel of the establishment. In March 2023, a second dining room was opened adjacent to the original building which serves a variety of a la carte dishes, including toasted sandwich platters and salads curated by Chef Andre.

Serving an eclectic mix of clientele—from loyal local patrons to tourists stopping through after a day of exploring, Poço Azul provides a cozy oásis on the north coast. A story unfolds inside its doors—a story of the rich history and culture of the Açores, where each bite of delicious cuisine reveals a chapter in the telling of the flavors of São Miguel. Poço Azul is best known for its popular lunch buffet service which offers guests the opportunity to try the local gastronomy—truly authentic Açorean cuisine—for only 10€. If ordering off the menu suits their fancy, guests may want to try Chef Andre´s favorite dish: Polvo a Lagareiro, which he calls the “king” of the menu. Unique to the menu are a variety of mouth-watering vegetarian and also vegan options—including the vegan chocolate mousse. For non-vegans, don´t forget to end the meal with the restaurant´s signature dessert: the Poço Azul, a delicate treat of pineapple and, of course, sweet blue cream. Bom apetite!
